Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) greeted us with the Apple Watch in March this year. Lately sales have been dwindling since competitors continue to launch new wearables.
Apple has built its reputation by sticking to its premium pricing strategy, but this time around it surprised many by deciding to offer discounts. Apparently the company has introduced a bundle deal which allows buyers to save $50 on the purchase of an iPhone together with the Apple Watch. It might not be the most attractive package for many however it might be a sign of things to come from the tech giant in the future.
Apple’s decision to introduce discounts on its only wearable device has sparked questions regarding how well the product has fared in the market in terms of sales. The speculations were initially fueled by the company’s reluctance to reveal specific sales figures. The company decided not to disclose figures by saying that it didn’t wish to offer any insights to competitors. Many however feel that the wearable hasn’t experienced the same level of success, given the popularity of other Apple products.
Apple is known to offer discounts to educational institutes and slash prices on products during the annual Black Friday sales. Although a temporary promotion by Apple is something we haven’t come across before.
The promotion could be an initiative to give its Apple Watch a much-needed boost, a risk worth taking when one notices the little $50 loss per sale.
One should note that the discount is only available through in-store purchases and at specific retail stores in Boston and San Francisco Bay area. The bundle offer hasn’t made it to the online store therefore those hoping to avail the offer from anywhere should think again. The promotional offer will run from October 30 to November 15. More so, the Apple Watch Edition and Apple Watch Hermes model aren’t included in the deal.
Apple is yet to comment on the discount offer. We will cover the details on whether the offer has supplemented Apple Watch sales or not in the near future.
